Could you clarify why you're trying to create a page with over 3000 images on it? -- Ryan • (talk) • 11:54, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
I was trying to export images. I read on the mediawiki website that this is the way. —The preceding comment was added by Pranavk (talk • contribs)
Please note that loading 3000 images at once will generate somewhere between 300MB and 3GB of data (assuming my math is correct). The server will timeout before delivering that much info, but in the mean time it will have a performance impact on the rest of the site. Please consider downloading files in smaller batches. -- Ryan • (talk) • 12:27, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
Please do not recreate pages that include thousands of images - doing so has a detrimental effect on server performance. -- Ryan • (talk) • 16:13, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
Ok, I won't. Actually I had created the page with all the images intially but then you deleted that page. I was just about to save the source code of the page but before that you deleted it. Once I could have gotten the source code, this page wouldn't have mattered to me as all the images link were there only which I could have used directly in other places or downloaded some of them. If you have some admin access or something like that, can you retrieve that source code out of the server once again without having to give additional load to the server, if it has saved that code in cache or something like that. Otherwise, there is no problem, I will do this job in chunks and won't be doing any harm to wikitravel website. I am very sorry for earlier attempts.
