I hope you are fine. The nomination for user cardboardbird is running for a month and i think he is ripe for the mob ;-) Would you give him the tools? I'm very busy in my real life at the moment, so it would be handy to have additional hands... Thanks and best regards, jan 10:28, 5 January 2011 (EST)
Could you - or someone administering mediawiki - look into this error? It seems the software have some serious problems with accents in filenames.
Hiba az indexkép létrehozásakor: convert: unable to open image `/var/www/html/wikitravel.org/upload/hu/2/28/Fertdi_kastly.jpg': No such file or directory. convert: missing an image filename `/var/www/html/wikitravel.org/upload/hu/thumb/2/28/Fertdi_kastly.jpg/800px-Fertdi_kastly.jpg'.
Thanks. --grin 17:46, 9 January 2011 (EST)
This is not the mediawiki, this is the local filesystem on the server. And yes, not wikiadmins but serveradmins can and should fix that. But I don't know them, maybe you do. --grin 18:52, 20 January 2011 (EST)
Corrections to Far Southeast Side Travel Guide & Map.
Hello! A very good guide! However, in the drink section you refer to the "Frank Loyd Wright-style golf course club house off of 111th street just before Route 57" and I assume you mean 94, not 57.
The map makes a similar error, where, in the Pullman Historic District inset map, 94 is labeled as 57. It is correctly labeled 94 on the outset map.
Sincerely, Ben from Hammond
p.s. Just noticed, also on the map, the South Shore station is misspelled Hegewische instead of Hegewisch. Oh and in the Sleep Legend, there are two #2, instead of #3. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 126.96.36.199 (talk • contribs)
policy on tours
Hi Peter. Happy New Year! User:Scagnoz has just uploaded plugs for Chianti Tours on about ten pages in the Chianti area Siena deleted by me, Florence, Radda, Greve, Panzano, etc. etc.. I don't find the Policy on Tours clear enough to really delete all of these; in theory you could do it yourself assuming Chianti Tours does not have access to vineyards that are not open to the general public. Please advise. And if I delete Chianti Tours listing there are other listings that will have to be deleted, too. In some cases leaving nothing on the pages! Thanks Shep 12:57, 18 January 2011 (EST)
Thanks from me too
Thanks for the welcome. It is fun colouring in the BVI stuff, but I also travel to some reasonably obscure places (like Chuuk, so hoping to fill in the details from some of those locations too. Just bear with me whilst I learn the ropes...!</br> Legis 09:33, 18 February 2011 (EST)
jan 10:51, 22 February 2011 (EST)== DotM/OtbP ==
we are a bit short of nominees for DotM/OtbP. I have started to improve Frankfurt as the reasons for the slush pile have been mainly xl and formatting. I already asked G-T if he would do a map for Frankfurt but if you have any other contestants, then they would be more than welcome. Thank you and have a nice weekend, jan 10:45, 18 February 2011 (EST)
Hi, I don't know why you edit everytime my contribute about Turin. It's more correct than others in the same session (my link is on the english page of the site, others no) and absolutely appropriate,
Thanks for your answer. Roberto
Hello! I have read some of your contributions to the wiki travel page regarding Yakutsk, which is a very well done page and thank you for helping, and had a couple questions for you. I am interested in potentially living in Yakutsk and am the beginning stages of figuring out how to find work before I arrive. I was just wondering if you saw any places offering to teach English there? Is there much, if any, potential for work as an ex-pat there? How many international folks were there in Yakutsk during the summer? I lived through a Mongolian winter, so I am familiar with the cold, though obviously Yakutsk is colder than almost anywhere in the world. According to Lonely Planet finding work in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia is nearly impossible, but I found multiple job offers as an English teacher in just two weeks. I wonder if Yakutsk is of a potentially similar situation. I'm looking to move there as soon as this fall, but probably later, the summer of 2012.
I thought you might have some information and anything, however small, would be of a great help to me. I'm a qualified English teacher with experience looking to live in the winter northlands for a while. I've been dog sledding a number of times, love it, and want more of it. Thanks again for the contributions online and thanks for any potential help!
Best regards, Alex Miller
Deletion on "Eat" section of "Siberia" page
Hi, Peter. I realize the deletion wasn't explained, but the passage that was deleted was a joke. Bak Kut Teh, Garlic Naan, and Hainanese Chicken Rice are common Malaysian foodstuffs, not Siberian dishes. Therefore, I patrolled the redeletion of that joke.
All the best,

A couple of recent discussions where I was hoping to get your input, if you have time:
Looking forward to hearing your take on these. texugo 20:59, 1 June 2011 (EDT)
Thanks for the feedback Peter. I have a little more to put into the article for it to be as complete as possible for its likely OtBP feature. It would be nice if it when star when it gets on the front page too. I hope to get it finished this weekend so I will starnom it after that. Cheers, Cardboardbird 09:38, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
Why in the world did you slush Staraya's starnom? Only Claus expressed any significant objection, and promotion certainly doesn't require unanimity. LtPowers 16:18, 20 June 2011 (EDT)
Talon or прикуп
Peter, прикуп word came from Preference card game (преферанс in Russian). These are two cards which are hidden from players and which go to the whisting player finally. Often the success of his game directly depends on those two cards. That is why this saying appeared in Russia - living in Sochi is associated with luck, but with mostly accidential luck. My translator offers 3 options for прикуп: talon, widow, and widdie. Talon seems to me the most monosemantic word of those 3. Do you know other options? Rgds, Andrey
time formats revisited
Given your interest in the time formats discussion and/or the star nomination that was almost sidelined over this matter, I thought I should let you know I've reopened the discussion. Hopefully (unlikely perhaps, but hopefully) we can reach a more definitive conclusion on this matter. PerryPlanet Talk 00:44, 23 June 2011 (EDT)
New Orleans districts
Hi. Thanks very much for all your work. I was about to make some detailed suggestions and request for comment here on your talk page, but on consideration I decided to put it on the New Orleans talk page in case anyone else cares to chime in; Talk:New_Orleans#Districts_yet_again. Best wishes, Infrogmation 01:16, 27 June 2011 (EDT)
I would have been much more aggressive in creating district articles if I'd known you'd be creating maps to include every bit of the city with no "grey areas" not included. Since that's what we're doing, I wish to make suggestions:
1) The split off of a Gentilly article I've already mentioned. Again, I think extending it to the lake is best, everything between Bayou St. John and the Industrial Canal. I've resisted moving the UNO etc to the Gentilly article until a new map is ready, but can do so before if you prefer.
2) Having the Bienville Projects on Basin Street as part of "Mid-City" is one of the more obviously absurd things in the present configuration. I suggest adding the square between Canal, I-10, the French Quarter, and Treme to Treme. I'll mention it is not technically Treme, but it is much closer than Mid-City. The one thing of interest to some I can think of off hand is the three remaining buildings from Storyville. Since they're in a dangerous area next to a housing project I'll advise an abundance of caution, but since they're something the hearty few history buffs/urban explorers insist on seeing if they can, IMO better to list them.
3) Split off an "Audubon and University District" article from Uptown, including Audubon Zoo & Park, Tulane & Loyola Universities, and the area right around them. This is something I had in mind doing eventually way back before Katrina. Since we're about to "redraw the map", how about we do this too at the same time? I can knock out the "Audubon and University District" article pretty quickly any time I have a couple hours of free time. In addition to the material now in "Uptown", there are a number of restaurants and shops around the park and universities to add. I'd extend the area back to include the cluster of businesses around Calhoun & Miro, just across Claiborne from the back side of Tulane. (I see you've already discovered one of them, "Naked Pizza". One of a couple there worth mentioning, but don't belong in "Mid-City".) I'd suggest the boundaries include the Park & Universities and area around them with the following boundaries: From the Mississippi River to Lowerline Street (BTW, I applaud your awareness of subtleties in putting the border of Carrollton there rather than on Broadway!), back on Lowerline to Claiborne Avenue; continuing back on Broadway to Fontainebleau. Fontainebleau to State, then riverwards to Claiborne. Claiborne to the River along Calhoun Street.
I think that will result in a good solid districts division that should hold us for some time. (I don't think there's anywhere near enough reason to create a Broadmoor and Gert Town district, nor to subdivide Eastern New Orleans-- though several years from now hey, one never knows.) Regional structure of Russia
I'm thinking of modifying the regional structure of Russia to make it more consistant and similar to official one. By the moment I have several ideas I'd like to share with you to get some advise:
