Re: GFDL, yes that's what I figured. How annoying considering I was the (only) writer of the Wikipedia article on Tioman, and now I have to refactor my own words to make it usable here. Oh well, maybe someday I'll get around to doing that, but it's hard to get excited about "rephrasing" so it will have to wait. I understand the necessity of doing the legal thing, I really do, but my eyes glaze over with complete boredom at this kind of stuff, so I'll keep pitching in on more interesting stuff. Thanks. Thanks for the clarification re: copyright and content for Tioman. Fuzheado 23:35, 2 Feb 2004 (EST)
Dear Mighty Silverback,
I'm working on a python script that will suck in the TIGERLine data and spit out SVG that people then can manipulate in whatever way. This will be cool because then we will be able to do most US city maps fairly easily (I hope.)
So when I'm done with this tool I don't want it just published on my site, because if my box disappears or I buy the farm it may disappear forever. Is there a way to make it part of the Wiki easily, and how would I do this? Just make a new node and paste it in? Or is there a better magical way?

Buying / renting
Evan, it was never my intention to blank the page. I must have done it by mistake. I looked at it afterwards and when I didn't see anything I thought it had to be something with my browser or Wikitravel itself. Never thought it could actually be *me* :-( Sorry, but as you know I've got lots of work and I *am* pretty tired. I wish I could do more for Wikitravel, but alas... DhDh 16:36, 3 Feb 2004 (EST)
Evan, no sweat. I've added language certifying that I took the photos and give Wikitravel my blessing to use them. Let me know if you need anything more than that. Fuzheado 00:31, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)
Evan, there is definitely something wrong with my browser. I just posted a comment on the traveller's pub and most of the page was gone! What's worse: I'm unable to revert it. This time I know I didn't do anything wrong. I'll have a look at it this weekend. Could you fix the page for me? Thanks a lot! DhDh 12:32, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)
Oh man!!!! I should sink in the ground of shame!!!!! :-((((( DhDh 12:34, 5 Feb 2004 (EST)
Meeting in London
I left a note on Maj's page too... Are you guys interested in meeting up while you're in London? Is there a meet with London Wikipedians already organised? - MykReeve 17:18, 9 Feb 2004 (EST)
Evan, I've seen that same map repurposed often here in Seattle, and there is no copyright claim on the web page it comes from (though, admittedly there is for some other content on the site). I am certain that the last thing the city would want to do, even if copyright exists, is enforce it against a web site that promotes tourism to their city.
Having dealt with the city gov't here, including their webmasters, it would be incredibly tedious to get explicit permission to use it, and I'm not going to pursue that wild goose chase.
If you actually think this is a problem, ping me again, and I will create a (probably slightly less topographically accurate) map from scratch. We really do need something, though, because these neighborhoods are how everyone in Seattle talks about where anything is. -- Jmabel 19:32, 9 Feb 2004 (EST)
Hi Evan. How do you feel about putting breadcrumbs (similar to the Romania Wikitravel) on each page to indicate the hierarchy for each location? I find them really helpful and would contribute many if you don't mind having them. -- Anca
...into the Barcelona page, and all the breadcrumb stuff gets worked out automatically.
Also, how about putting page templates in an easier place (like under the "special pages" link in the left-hand site). I often have 10-15 minutes and I could use them to add some of the most-requested pages, but I am intimidated by having to hunt for the right template. Am I just super-lazy? -- Anca
Counting all pages
I counted 26 destinations, countries, etc. on fr:, out of 34 articles (the rest are mostly phrasebooks and redirects). How do I list all articles in the Wikitravel: namespace? We've been quite busy on those too.
By the way, I made a pun when editing one of the meta pages on fr:. Can you figure it out? -phma 20:44, 15 Feb 2004 (EST)
Some people have reported this bug on Wikitravel. Is it fixed? cf. http://www.wikitravel.org/fr/article/Wikitravel:Caf%C3%A9_des_Voyageurs#Liens_vers_Wikip%C3%A9dia There was a similar bug on Wikisource cf. http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2004-February/008456.html Thanks. Looking for (net http) (guile)
sorry for the off-topic post here, but I couldn't find an "e-mail this user" link on your personal page. I am currently updating the broken links on the GNU guile project page. One of the broken ones is the one for (net http), pointing to http://evan.prodromou.san-francisco.ca.us/software/net-http/

Hi Evan ! I imported the Wikitravel logo on fr:WP and Yann did it on en:WP. But we didn't mention any licence. Is it total free or copyleft (ASA) or GFDL ? copyright ??! :o) --Pontauxchats 05:31, 22 Feb 2004 (EST)
