Spam attack

Thanks for dealing with the wikispam attack last night. --Evan 00:42, 7 Jan 2006 (EST)

Korea extlinks

I've taken the liberty of reverting some (but not all) of your removals of the Korea extlinks -- any sites ending in .go.kr or gangwon.kr are official sites and thus OK. (The articles obviously need templating though). Jpatokal 02:27, 17 Jan 2006 (EST)

spam attack

isn't there a way to block that ip address from making changes?

Yes, but we choose not to use it. -- Colin 16:15, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
Also, it's like one click of a mouse for me to revert his changes. He's going to way more effort in this adventure than I am. -- Colin 16:19, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
I was going to help you but you're too fast for me... Great job! -- Simone 16:25, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
Ditto. Thanks for doing this. What happens when you're asleep? Jonboy 16:26, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
That's where you guys come in, right? -- Colin 16:27, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
Is the one click an admin feature, a macro, or something else? Jonboy 16:41, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
It's an admin feature. -- Colin 16:44, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
You're too fast for me too! Great job on the rollbacks. Dude should get bored soon... or his mom will call him to dinner. What a l00z3r! Majnoona 16:34, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)

Gangwon - Copyright issues

Zagreb Pic

Hi. Thank you so much for correcting some of the typos on Zagreb page. However, it seems that you have deleted a picture of the Pavillion o Arts in the process. As this picture is in the public domain and has been published on Wikipedia, I would be very grateful if you could say why you feel it should go. Thanks

StatScript

Thanks for the heads-up -- I'd left the data-fetching bit commented out to speed up debugging last week. It should work now. Jpatokal 21:31, 2 March 2006 (EST)

And more tweaking. It now generates the tables in Wiki-syntax. Jpatokal 22:49, 13 April 2006 (EDT)

From Keeseckb

I admit the shopping information, on the Bend site, I did copy from another site, but the rest of the information (Sleep) was from my own experiences. So please dont delete my hard work.

Travel2006

I don't think Trav is an attention-seeker so much as he's attention-deficient. His behavior is pretty consistent with an ADHD kid exhibiting the "hyperactive/hyperfocus" side of the syndrome (a normal troll or vandal wouldn't have fixated on it all day like that). I think what he needs is simple direction he can actually follow (such as "stop editing articles") without the mixed messages about how we're all happy to have him here, here's how to help, how can we help him, etc. - Todd VerBeek 09:37, 29 March 2006 (EST)

I don't understand

I seem to have this deep rooted fear of copyvios. Is there anyway you could explain to me what exactly doesn't violate WikiTravel copyright policies? What I'm really confused about is which images we can use if an image is labeled with (a) disclaimer(s) that reads something like the one that is listed here. [1] Thanks for the explanation in advance. Sapphire 15:24, 3 April 2006 (EDT)

Basically, in that example the author says "you can make use of my work under either the terms of the GFDL license or the terms of the CC-SA license" and it is up to whoever uses it to decide which one to pick. This is called "dual-licensing" since the author is giving you a choice of two licenses.
Everything uploaded to Wikitravel must be licensable with CC-SA -- though we have no objection to hosting stuff that is dual or multi-licensed as long as at least one of the licenses is CC-SA.
So for the image you cited, it's fine to uploaded it to Wikitravel since it is CC-SA. For attributions, you should add a weblink to the original on commons from the Wikitravel copy of the image. -- Colin 15:29, 3 April 2006 (EDT)
Thanks. Sapphire 15:34, 3 April 2006 (EDT)

Tampa revert

Hi Colin - just curious about the reason for reverting this edit. to Tampa. It looks valid to me - was it a copyvio from somewhere, or just an inadvertent click of your mouse? -- Ryan 22:00, 3 April 2006 (EDT)

Uh... apparently I need to switch to decaf? Thanks for the catch! -- Colin 14:24, 4 April 2006 (EDT)
Heh. I've been making edits at obscene hours of the night lately, so I can definitely commiserate. Thanks for reverting the revert. -- Ryan 15:15, 4 April 2006 (EDT)

Rollback

So, I was a smart aleck and rolled back your bug report and my response. I think the bug is fixed now. --Evan 21:47, 11 April 2006 (EDT)

Statistics

Thanks for once again cleaning up after StatScript... the thing with pl: data not being available is really annoying, I have to hand-hack the script to insert that one value manually and then I always (like today) forget to re-enable the bit that gets fresh data.
