::Nobody's asking for them to go away. This misses the point. The point of the constant dredging of this dead issue by ex admins editing from IPs is to undermine Wikitravel. We're not allowing that any longer. The discussion is over. Those who moved on, best of luck. Those who want to contribute to a much more widely read and used wiki remain at Wikitravel. That's the long ansd the short of it. Anyone who says differently is being highly disingenuous. We're looking forward, not back :) --[[User:IBobi|IBobi]] 19:48, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Hello Blist! Welcome to Wikitravel. To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

Thanks for your contributions to Sweden! -- Fastestdogever 22:09, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Risk evaluation box

Nice idea! Please chip in on the discussion at Talk:Stay safe#Risk evaluation box before adding that to more articles though — we need to agree on what goes in it, and the template should be rewritten to make it easier to use/change and more consistent across articles. Contributions

Hi Blist, I was wondering if you had contributed to any other language versions of Wikitravel (such as Swedish?) Or had you ever been approached to become an administrator? Your contributions since 2007 would certainly seem to warrant it. Let me know! Thanks,--IBobi talk email 19:35, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

Good to hear. I'll consider that. /Blist 04:37, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Hej från Finland

Hello there Blist! I just wanted to state that I support your effort into applying as an administrator a 100%! I'm myself administering the Finnish and Swedish local language versions and I would be honored to have you there as well! (no pressure) Cheers! --OVK 04:23, 31 December 2012 (EST)

Thanks for your support. /Blist 10:30, 31 December 2012 (EST)

Nomination for Administrator

Hello Blist! I have just supported your nomination. I looked through your recent activities and I see lots of great contributions from you. I like the fact that you are one of our most active members who writes frequently on the pub and starts new conversations. It's highly appreciated! I see that you are also familiar with wiki markup which is important for the administrators. Please let me know if you need any help with the process of becoming an admin. Should I explain something? Let me know also if you are active on any other version of WT? How often are you on WT Shared? Thank you! Warm regards, IBAlex 19:36, 7 January 2013 (EST)

Thanks for the confidence. I am an admin on another wiki, so there should be no trouble. /Blist 07:02, 8 January 2013 (EST)
With a great pleasure I have just given you administrator's rights. Best! IBAlex 13:49, 10 January 2013 (EST)
Congratulations and welcome aboard! Great to have another experienced admin working in this growing group :) --IBobi 13:52, 10 January 2013 (EST)
Thanks. But for the moment, I would appreciate some more information on the future of the community. /Blist 09:17, 11 January 2013 (EST)
Well, the community continues to grow, as it always has. The admin community is rounding out nicely both in EN and non-EN language versions, and we are enjoying a great deal of communication with them now that we've started pointing them all to the Shared Pub for questions, concerns and tech issues (which we've had virtually none of for quite some time -- WT is running stronger and faster than it has in... ever, probably!). Most importantly, the travelers we serve are being given the best information, and in the biggest helpings since this site was founded. Glad you are here to help, and we look forward to your continued contributions.--IBobi 13:41, 11 January 2013 (EST)

With regard to recent comments about the "future of the community": promotion of competing travel sites and attempts to discourage Wikitravelers from editing this valuable travel resource are counter-policy and normally are reverted. This site is used by 250,000 travelers per day, and there is no reason to try to draw out a conversation that concluded over six months ago, meanwhile trying to deprive WT's travelers of experienced and valued contributors. Ex administrators continue to loiter here and attempt to subvert this community through vandalism. The WT community consists of far more than 40 administrators. We are 85,000 users and 250,000 visitors per day, and getting better by the minute.

Admins who do not use their privileges for a long while are retired (or they simply announced that they were no longer contributing here). That's perfectly reasonable. But for them to come here and try to spoil the site for everyone else really speaks volumes about how little they ever cared about The Traveller. Any site is far better off without those with that attitude.--IBobi 16:22, 21 January 2013 (EST)

If the discussion is concluded, Wikitravel should provide a transcript of the different points of view, and the current status. Discouraging contributions in favour to a competing service is one thing, but not even being allowed to mention the competing service in plain text, seems a bit harsh. Wiki (pause) voyage will not go away just because of automated censorship on Wikitravel. /Blist 19:37, 21 January 2013 (EST)
