Welcome[edit]

Hello, Ariel Lickton! Welcome to Wikitravel.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. --Stefan (sertmann) talk 20:16, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Monticello (Illinois)[edit]

Hello! Regarding this comment, please understand that wikis are collaborative tools, so any changes you make will be reviewed and potentially updated by others. If you would like to create a page that others will be unlikely to modify, consider creating a Wikitravel:User page help#Personal sandbox where you can work without review and input from the Wikitravel community. Note, however, that working in a sandbox somewhat defeats the purpose of using a wiki as you will no longer be collaborating with or retrieving feedback from the larger community. -- Ryan • (talk) • 21:49, 1 November 2009 (EST)

Hello - I've left some comments on Talk:Monticello (Illinois) regarding your edits. The article is much improved since you started working on it, but there are some concerns about the way it is being formatted and the images being used that could be quickly resolved if you could read the guidlines linked from the article's talk page. Thanks for your contributions! -- Ryan • (talk) • 01:33, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Images[edit]

Please don't upload pictures here, but on our shared server, as it does say in pretty big letters across the upload screen. Also you need to specify license information for any images you upload, regardless if they are only used in a sandbox - or we will have to delete them, there is more information on our copyleft page. This may all seem trivial, tedious and unnecessary to you, but it is indeed critical for the survival for a project like ours that copyrights are respected. --Stefan (sertmann) talk 17:01, 16 November 2009 (EST)

Again, given the GIANT warning on the upload page that you SHOULD NOT upload here, it's very strange that you continue to do so. Additionally, given that there are concerns about the copyright of images that you have uploaded, anything uploaded to English Wikitravel will most likely be deleted immediately, so please stop uploading content here. In addition, please respond when people leave you comments on your talk page so that we know you have read them and understand. -- Ryan • (talk) • 11:01, 18 November 2009 (EST)
