About
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Citizenships: Canada, United Kingdom, Australia (permanent resident).
Contributions: Wikipedia, Wikitravel, World66, Schmapp Travel Guides.
Bio: I am an instructor in the Capilano University Theatre Department [1], I've taught at Simon Fraser University School for Contemporary Arts [2], Studio 58 [3] and the University of Lethbridge [4]. I am currently the Artistic Director of Human Theatre [5], Co-artistic Director of Fuse Performance Works and an Associate Director with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre [6]. Recent performance, directing and writing credits can be found on LinkedIn [7] or on the Capilano University Theatre Department web page [8].
Travels: My experience in travel started in 1985 when I was a leader for tour groups to Israel and the (then) USSR. In the 1990s I was as a touring performer and in the early 2000s, a web-based software developer communications designer for a small group of travel agencies and tour operators. I've been contributing off and on to various wiki projects with articles on theatre history, arts/culture and travel/food.
Current Current research is in the field of interdisciplinary and interculteral collaboration; undertaking a Doctoral degree in the Creative Industries in Brisbane, Australia.
Other: Digital phpotography/video editing - getting back into painting (canvas not houses) which I haven't done since college and learning blues guitar.
News: I have been a writer, director and theatre/media artist for most of my professional life. I have also worked in new media, (online communications and design) since 1995. I value my time away from the studio, and look for travel that will recharge my batteries, get the creative juices flowing again and give me some perspective on the place I occupy on this planet, in this short span of time we call a life.
I've started writing a bit down, the frivolous/profound experiences along the way. I have a keen interest in the arts, history, politics and religion, so a lot of my writing and travel experience reflects these interests. As a travel writer, I have a few articles floating around in the creative commons and some work done for clients.
