due to the recent developments at Wikitravel, I have decided to leave the community and to join the guys at '''[http://www.wikivoyage.org Wikivoyage.org]''' that created a fork of the German Wikitravel in December 2006. They founded an association in order to create a democratic, independent and non-commercial (and ad-free) travel wiki. So far its German version has made good progress, overtaking the WT/de site by far. I am also busy helping to translate articles about the basic roules and so on into English, so that we can create an English version soon. Help is very much appreciated! If you would like to get some more information about Wikivoyage, do not hesitate to visit the [http://wikivoyage.org/general/Main_Page Wikivoyage General], the international page concerning all (current and future) language versions of Wikivoyage or write a message on my [http://wikivoyage.org/de/Benutzer_Diskussion:Africaspotter discussion page].

I am really sorry that I had to leave WT, because I invested a lot of time and effort into this project. But with current developments, I feel that I should devote myself to a project free of any non-community influence. I am grateful that I have met many wonderful people here, all passionate about traveling and willing tos share their experience and I hope to hear from one or the other some time.

Dear Wikitravel user,

due to the recent developments at Wikitravel, I have decided to leave the community and to join the guys at WV that created a fork of the German Wikitravel in December 2006.

I am really sorry that I had to leave WT, because I invested a lot of time and effort into this project. But with current developments, I feel that I should devote myself to a project free of any non-community influence. I am grateful that I have met many wonderful people here, all passionate about traveling and willing tos share their experience and I hope to hear from one or the other some time.
