The ancient panchanadeeswarar temple

Get in[edit]

Thiruvayaru is just 13 Km from Thanjavur from where buses ply every 30 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to 45 minutes to travel. By car it takes just 15 to 20 minutes.

Get around[edit]

On foot as it is a small village. Alternately three wheeler auto rickshaws are available - fares for which need to be bargained.

  • The Panchanadeeswarar Temple
  • House of Tyagaraja in Thirumanjana Lane
  • Samadhi of Tyagaraja
  • Kodandarama Temple

Walk around the streets and if possible walk towards Thillaisthanam village to get the feel of what Tyagaraja's Thiruvayaru was like.

Sit in the hall in Samadhi absorbing silence and outside enjoying silent breezes coming over River Kaveri.
