Erm. When Moldova gained its independence from the Soviet union, the Russian Rayon as the administrative unit was dropped in favour of the nine. A communist government was relected a couple of years back, they reinstated the Russian ones. There are no alternative english names for these. I removed the following fine grained alternative regional breakdown as these appear to be Moldovan names, not English ones. I used the Factbook county breakdown instead. I left them here so that they can be moved into the individual county articles. -- Huttite 04:54, 19 Jun 2004 (EDT)
