By population - 5th largest city, not 2nd?
The article has now been changed back with the edit summary: Change from "fifth-largest" to "second-largest" in accordance with Lonely Planet (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/asia/thailand/chiang-mai ). However LP Thailand 11th edition (September 2005) credits Khorat with "pop 215,000" (P.438) and Hat Yai with "pop 191,200" (P.610), but only "pop 170,300" (P.276) for Chiang Mai; similar situation in the 10th edition. So I've reverted the article back again to state that Chiang Mai is 5th largest (which will probably need updating to 6th largest before too long). ~ 188.8.131.52 17:01, 26 September 2007 (EDT)
Can someone double check or confirm the spellings of streets (and anything else)? I'm looking at a tourist map of Chiang Mai (which isn't exactly reliable) and it differs on a few of the street names, but I'm not sure if what's here is any more reliable than this is. For example: Nimmanhemin or Nimmanhaemin Road? Chaiyapoom or Chiayaphum? -- psychofish 01:23, 13 April 2006 (EDT)
Page Messed Up
The whole article page/ site is messed up. No matter what you try to edit/add or even if you don't add anything and just try to save the existing page AS IS, with out changes, the spam filter blocks everything. Can anyone fix this? The site has gone into limbo... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 184.108.40.206 (talk • contribs) 25 August 2007
Who is removing my home videos off this page?
I have posted links to real nice short streaming home videos of Doi Suthep, Wararot Market, Khom Loy at the Loi Krathong festival and a Khantoke Dinner. I would store them here at Wiki but it doesn't suppot them. I have links to all my home videos posted on many forums and travel journal sites and everyone enjoys them. There are no advertisements or Spaming involved. These are just good home videos showing Chiang Mai, it's people and culture. Why are you removing them?
Randy Gaudet "Allthai"
Hi Randy. I'm the one who removed the link to your video. I'm sure it's a great video and of interest to travellers, but we currently don't link to personal websites, blogs, photos, or videos (you can read more at Wikitravel:External links).Of course you are welcome to link to your videos. etcs from you user page. If you'd like you can also start at discussion specifically about linking to video if you think our current guidelines dont adress it. I really appreciate your contributions to the Thailnd guides and hope this doesn't put you off! Majnoona 18:56, 10 Jan 2006 (EST)
White trash and cosmopolitan are not the same thing. A gazillion "steak buffets" (including Sizzler), cheap Aussie backpacker bars, restaurants serving "international Thai food" (NOT SPICY!!!!), and hangouts for teenagers called Marijuana, THC, and Cannabis do not make Chiang Mai cosmopolitan. This city is garbage.
