Spiez [1] is a picture postcard town in Switzerland.


Spiez is a small, quaint little town (pop 12,500) on the south shore of Lake Thun. It has a wonderful medieval castle and offers spectacular views across the lake.

The tourist office is located on platform 1 of the station (May–Sept Mon–Fri 8AM–6.30PM, Sat 9AM–noon and 2–4PM; Oct–April Mon–Fri 8AM–noon and 2–6PM).

Located one the water's edge in the town's harbour. The restaurant's garden terrace faces the small, picturesque marina and offers a lovely view of houses cascading down the hill to the lake, as well as the pyramidal Niesen near the town.
