Follow the large trail through lovely forest with monkeys at times. (Warning; a few robberies over the years so don't carry all your money.) Reach forested ridge top at a mudhole/saddle, hence trail crosses over to north side, through more nice forest. Look for tree markers. gradually up until you reach open main ridge, within sight of Peace Pagoda. A few small cafes and a hotel here, then steps up to top. Morning views are best. Often Hindi/Nepali movies being shot on top. It should take around 35 minutes from the hotels near the road bridge over the big canal.

 Virtually all tourist accommodation is located in Lakeside and Damside, near Phewa Lake, but there is also a great new lodge (Raniban Retreat) and restaurant just a few minutes' walk from the World Peace Pagoda. Views from here are 'out of this world', making it ideal for a one or two night relaxing stay or as a base for short treks, whilst also enjoying the sunrise and sunset. There exist as well a dozen of guesthouses uphill, in Sarangkot, but they are often heavily overpriced with their food menu prices being twice or three times higher than in the downtown, counting on the absence of restaurants and any real food store, giving virtualy no choice for tourists. Sarangkot turned in the last years into a village where all the locals expect to become rich fast and easily from the tourism industry and it is very difficult to find any exception to that. According to the reports, some hotels located uphill (such as Superview Guesthouse) force the travellers that stay there to have at least two meals a day in the hotel, with the prices on the menu being stratospheric (one lunch being equal to the daily price for the room). The upside of Sagrangkot is its serenity and absence of air pollution. Last bus from downtown departs at 17:30, taxi to Sarangkot costs 500 NRs and doesn't takes you all the way uphill to the hotels. 20 min. walk uphill on gravel from the taxi stand.
