Travel Warning WARNING: The province of Sichuan suffered a catastrophic earthquake on May 12, 2008, centered on Wenchuan County, about 100km north of Chengdu city. Many cities, especially in Sichuan, remain in a state of destruction. There has also been ethnic violence in areas in Tibet (TAR) and areas bordering Tibet, due to the tensions between China and the Tibetan people.
