Appalling the number of Canadians who ignore the government's travel advisory and all the violence and figure if they go down in some sort of caravan through Sinaloa, etc., they will be safe. This is not just a lapse of judgment, it's totally selfish and irresponsible behaviour. It causes unnecessary anxiety on the part of friends and family members. And the outrageous part of it is that they think the Canadian government is going to use our tax money to somehow rescue them when things go bad. Shameful.

Sinaloa is rather like the country of Chile in that it is a long narrow strip of land with ocean on its west and mountains in the east. As a result there are a lot of overlooked beaches and mountain playgrounds for those willing to get off the beaten path and explore a bit.
