Its goal is to promote the fine arts and to display both works of universal value and local flavour. It focuses on the works of artists of the Eastern Townships, but also exhibits great works from elsewhere. Exhibitions are the core of the museum’s offerings: the first and second floors offer a dozen or so exhibitions every year, while the third floor boasts the museum’s permanent collection, featuring works by Frederick Simpson Coburn (1871-1960), the famed painter originally from Melbourne in the Eastern Townships.
