Saransk is a city in central European Russia and the capital of the Republic of Mordovia. It was founded in 1641 as a fortress. The name "Saransk" refers to the city's situation on the Saranka river. These days it`s one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. Saransk is world-famous for it`s sport achievements. The home town for many Olympic and World champions, host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Very modern and European looking streets are attracting thousands of tourists from all over the country. It combines historical buildings, fascinating sport objects, crowded malls and cosy parks. The atmoshere on the streets is fantastic.
Train is the only practical and cost effective method of traveling within a country that spans eleven time zones and two continents. Saransk has one of the most beautiful Train Stations in Russia.

Unfortunately there are no direct flights from other countries. The local airport is very small and provides flights only to the neighbor regions.
Since the city is pretty small, there is only one kind of public transport - bus. However, there will be no problem with getting around, because busses are available everywhere from early morning to the late night.
Taxi cabs is another way to get around. The prices are really cheap and the drivers are always friendly and outgoing.
