San Antonio Palopo is an authentic Mayan town with very few of the tourist trappings nor traffic. It's known for it's ceramics and it's beautiful but simple native dress (Traje). The villagers are cautious but will greet your smile with an even bigger one. There's two restaurants/hotels that service travelers and a bed and breakfast that also includes use of a kayak.


  • Casa Sonrisas, 502 5733 6364. . : a lake front Bed and Breakfast in San Antonio. Has three rooms. One has a double bed, one has two double beds and the third has 4 singles, two of which is a bunk bed. Cost is 80Q ($10 USD) per person and includes a Tipico breakfast, use of a two man kayak, kitchen privileges and use of a living room and porch with sunset views.
