I don't know what the person above is saying about Piedmont being hot and dry in the summer, and I can't figure out how to change it!

Piedmont can be reached by car, bus, bicycle, or on foot from other parts of the Bay Area.

I would add: Compared to San Francisco, about which Mark Twain reportedly said, "the coldest winter I ever experienced was summer in San Francisco," the East Bay is very bright, sunny and warm. Temperatures drop slightly below freezing about once a decade; winter rains come in concentrated Pacific storms of a day or two. Otherwise winter weather is 40 at night and 65 in the day, in general, with sun or clouds common.  Spring is glorious:  maybe 45 at night and 75 during the day.

The dry season, running from March through early November, is consistently sunny (after the early fog burns off), calm, without rain, but with a maritime moistness in the air.  The hottest part of the year is the month before the first rain comes--essentially the month of October.  Temperatures can climb to 100 degrees, though typically begin at about 60 (because of fog-cover in the early morning)and climb in the early afternoon.  During this period, winds can shift from the typical maritime west to east flow, to "Santa Ana" winds from the hot and dry central valley to the east, flowing west.  This is the time of year of greatest fire danger, given the lack of rain and high temperatures.
