Pfäffikon is a town in Central Switzerland that is located between the Lake of Zurich and the Obersee. The big train station is a regional hub and offers connections within the region and to Zurich. Pfäffikon has seen a massive development as headquarters for big industrial and financial companies in the last two decades. Therefore during the week the town is bustling with business travellers from multinational companies while during the weekend it is very calm.
Pfäffikon is a small town that is well connected due to the commuters and the regional hub. The best way is propably by train. The Zurich S-Bahn lines 2, 5 & 8 and the IC to Chur have frequent stops and the ride is done within 25-30 minutes from Zurich main station.
If you prefer the car then the Autobahn 3 to Chur/Zurich brings you to Pfäffikon. Keep in mind the loads of commuters so in the morning and evening rush hour it might take 10-15 minutes more as the main road (Churerstrasse) is well utilized beyond it's capacity
It's a town, so best options are by foot or bicycle. There are bus lines but it's not really necessary if you don't live here.
The Seedamm an almost natural bridge between Pfäffikon and Rapperswil.
Laying at the lake, take a boat ride with the famous steam boats in summer.
The Seedamm Center is one of the biggest shopping centers in Switzerland and offers a big variety of shops. It has all the usual shops you can find anywhere else in Switzerland (Migros, Manor etc). In the older center shops close rather early and cater for the people living in that area
Better go to Rapperswil or Feusisberg or Pizzeria da Franco on Churerstrasse. Also recommend are the Trattoria-Pizzeria Höfe if not for the food, certainly for the charming Swiss hospitality afforded by the waiting staff.
