Pearl Lagoon is in RAAS.

Understand

Pearl Lagoon is a quaint town of about 5,000 people, mostly English-speaking creole descent. There are also a large number of Miskito indians that populate the town as well.

Get in

There are two routes: 1. Road from El Rama. There is a bus that leaves once a day and takes about 4 hours to reach.

2. Panga from Bluefields. This boat leaves at 9am, 12pm and 4pm and costs about $7.

Get around

Walking walking walking. The town is small and nearly everybody walks to get anywhere. There are also moto taxis that can be taken to the neighboring villages of Haulover, Raitipura and Awas.

See

You will see the remains of a British war cannon in the center of the wharf.

Do

Dining or drinking over the water is one of the best things to do in the town. The real attractions are the neighboring communities of Kahkabila, La Fe, the Kahka Creek reserve, Orinoco, Tasbapouni and the Pearl Cays. Pearl Lagoon is the best jump-off point for all of them.

Buy

Seafood is cheap! Lobster can be found for $4 if you know where to look.

Eat

Casa Ulrich has excellent dining, Queen Lobster as well. There is Comedor Eva that cooks up some of the best value in the town and Casa Blanca cooks excellent local-style meals.

Drink

There are three bars in a row just behind the basketball court. That is where the party usually is on a weekend.

Sleep

There are several hotels. Casa Ulrich and Queen Lobster are on the waterside. The famous Green Lodge is a beautifully manicured and private hotel just steps from the wharf Green Lodge. Further down is Casa Blanca, Slilma's Place and Comfort Zone.
