The island is one of the principal breeding grounds of the storm petrel and there is also a large puffin colony.
There is no vehicular access to the island but there is an old tractor that seems to serve as a taxi! Roads are only found in and very close to the village.
Whalebone arches are , surprisingly, not common in the islands but there is one forming an entrance to the village from the jetty.
1. There is a long walk from the village to the lighthouse at the southern tip of the island 2. The local taxidermist takes trips in the late evening to see the petrels coming in for the night. he also provides basic accommodation for those making the trip.
