Murray-Sunset National Park [1] is in Victoria, Australia. The park is made up of semi-arid plain and four seasonal lakes.

Get in

Murray-Sunset is accessible by car from Melbourne (550 km), Adelaide (400 km from) or Mildura (50 km). Two-wheel drive autos need to use the gravel road from Linga on the Mallee Highway.


  • Pine Lakes formerly the site of commercial salt harvesting.
  • Pink Lakes so called for the color of alga in the lake. Note the lakes are dry in summer.

  • Murray River


  • Four-wheel drive
  • Hiking -- Pink Lakes area has several trails.
  • Bird watching -- local species include the Regent Parrot.


Murray Sunset has several options for camping both primitive and with facilities (toilets, showers, BBQ, etc) as well as a hostel, Shearer's Hut.
