Muang Ngeun is a town in Northern Laos.

Understand[edit]

Muang Ngeun isn't really a town, but series of mostly Tai Lue villages spread out along the road.

Get in[edit]

Border from Ban Huay Kon[edit]

The main reason to go through Muang Ngeun is the Thai/Laos border crossing. The border is at the Ban Huay Kon checkpoint (Thailand) Many people don't know it but the border crossing with Thailand ( Ban Huay Kon – Muang Ngeun ) has been open for a while (year or two ), also for foreignerss. You can get a visa on arrival an both sides of the border. ( bring a passport size foto for Laos entry) The main problem is that the bus to UdomXai is at 12 from The Bus station, so if you don't want to spend a night In Muang Ngeun you should pass the border in the morning. To get to the border crossing with Thailand go to the Muang Ngeun songthaew station, here is also transport to Hongsa, Laos available.
