Moon Township, along with Robinson Township is one of the two suburbs a traveler might find themselves if staying at an airport hotel around Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). Though often associated with Coraopolis because of the shared zip code, they are distinct towns bordering each other. It is an upper-middle class town whose original growth was based on the US Airways hub at PIT. The township is most often simply referred to as Moon.
Though extremely close to the Pittsburgh Airport, there are no direct buses. If arriving at the airport and an airport shuttle is not available, the best options would be a taxi or Super Shuttle.
The G3 Moon Flyer bus runs between downtown Pittsburgh and the Park and Ride, located on the top of University Boulevard in Moon Township.
There is very limited bus service on University Boulevard.
There is heavy traffic and not many sidewalks so walking isn't encouraged.
Other than standard American suburbia, there is not much to see other than Robert Morris University.
Besides the fine selection of food, there is little to keep you in Moon.
Primanti Brothers, 8651 University Boulevard, ☎ (412) 865-2200, . As seen on many travel/food shows, its the home of the Pittsburgh style sandwich. Its what most tourist know of the local cuisine, and should probably be tried.
Wings Suds and Spuds, 8806 University Boulevard, ☎ (412) 264-1866. The place to go for the best wings, great fries and overpriced beer. But usually the crispy wings make you forget about it.
Eat'n Park, 1520 University Boulevard, ☎ (412) 264-7201. Its a cheap popular diner chain that's open all night long and with an extensive menu.
On University Blvd a lot of the restaurants double as bars, but aren't too happening at night. Other choices would need a car to get to from the hotels.
The Hangar, 500 Flaugherty Run Road, ☎ 724.457.9630, . Probably the best bar in town and it has a pretty good menu too. The wings are double sized and the clientele is a good mix.
Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport, 8256 University Blvd, ☎ +1 412 262-3600, . 6 miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Convenient location for business, leisure, and Park n Fly
