The tiny village of Montejaque (population 1,030) lies in the south-western Andalucia region of Spain, 14 km from Ronda. It is one of the ‘white villages’ (pueblos blancos) in the Sierra de Grazalema natural park, majestically nestled between two bluffs to the north and south.
The tourist information office (www.montexaquez.org) is along the main street (Avenida Andalucia), on the right-hand side, opposite the school. Open Mon. to Fri. 10-2 and 5-8, Sat. 10-1. Information on the village is also available on the Town Hall website, www.montejaque.es.
A group of residents (mainly English-speaking) recently formed an association to encourage international tourism in the village. Check the Facebook page, Montejaque International Tourism, for up-to-date information on activities in Montejaque.
Twice-daily buses leave Ronda at 8.30 and 13.00 and arrive in the village (via Benaoján) half an hour later. The Montejaque taxi driver is Alonso (tel: 607 919 352) – Spanish-speaking only – and the price of the Ronda-to-Montejaque journey should be approx 20€.

Nearest station (Estación Benaoján-Montejaque, 6km downhill from Montejaque village centre) is on the line that runs from Granada to Algeciras and links with Ronda and many villages along the Guadiaro river valley.
