Rome is a famed city of the Roman Empire, the Seven Hills, La Dolce Vita (the sweet life), the Vatican City and Three Coins in the Fountain. As a millennium-long center of power, culture and religion, Rome has exerted a huge influence over the world in its c. 2500 years of existence. On 21 Apr the city is celebrating its birthday so if you're in Rome, watch for festivals, concerts, and special events. Beppu (別府), Japan is a relatively small city, famous for its unique and visually stunning hot springs (aptly named Hells of Beppu), one of Japan's Three Great Hot Springs.
