Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands are a group of about 200 sub-antarctic islands in the South Atlantic Ocean that lie off the east coast of southern South America but are a United Kingdom Overseas Territory. The islands are also claimed by nearby Argentina under their Argentinian name of Islas Malvinas. Most visitors come between October and March to enjoy the penguins, seals, albatross and other wildlife in a rural country in which most of the 3,000 inabitants know one another.
