Lysekil is a city in the costal province of Bohuslän. It's a picturesque coastal town and a major tourist destination during the Swedish summer period from June to the end of August.
Lysekil started as a small fishing village and evolved during 19th century to include a well visited health spa. At 1903 Lysekil became a city with all its privileges.
By Car There are two different routs in to Lysekil: by road 162 or road 161 includeing a road ferry (No charge). On the 1:st of August the annual city-running competition "Musselloppet" (The mussel race) take place. In 2014 the 1000 participants boundary was broken when combining the different distances available, from 10km for elite to 1.3km for the youngest.
