Louisa is a small town in Central Virginia.

Louisa is a town of approximately 1550 residents in Central Virginia. Louisa is well located for access from other towns. It is within a one hour drive from Richmond or Charlotesville, VA and a two and a half hour drive from Washington, DC.

Private car is the usual way to get into Louisa. There is no scheduled bus or train service to the town. A bike trail does pass through the town

Louisa is home to the Twin Oaks Community[1]. This intentional community was founded in 1968 as a secular commune and experiment in cooperative living. Now with around 100 residents, Twin Oaks has grown to become one of the largest and best known intentional communities of its kind. Twin Oaks hosts a 3-hour tour for visitors every Saturday at 1:00pm. The cost is $5.00. Visitors should call ahead
