Kuressaare [1] is the "cosmopolitan" capital of Saaremaa, the biggest island of Estonia. And with only 15300 people living there - one of the smallest big(hearted) city in the world. First mentioned in a written document in 1424 the town was used as a fortified residency for local catholic bishop and was the centre of the island area in the western Estonia. In 1563 Kuressaare, at that time known as Arensburg received city status. Kuressaare, located in the south of the county on the banks of the Baltic Sea, the citys main motos are ......
