The Lighthouse was built during 1898-1901 by using heavy lime concrete blocks. The Lighthouse was then know as Kistna(Havelock Point)Lighthouse and was an important aid for Rangoon ship service.This light functioned up to 1940 when Rangoon ship service was decommissioned due to war. The station withstood a devastating cyclone in 1977 which affected the lighthouse. The light could be re-exhibited only after two nights.

Crabs Special Yanadi tribe hunt a large number of soft shell crabs or mud crabs along the coast of Bay of Bengal. Yanadi tribes catch crabs along the coastline in island villages in Krishna district.
There are several types of crabs including common shore crab, red crab, purple and blue crab found in the sea and along the coast. In the local market, crabs weighing 200 grams to 300 grams each cost Rs.300, while big crabs weighing about 800 grams and above fetch Rs.800 go up to Rs.3,000 and above in the export market. like Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia where they are in great demand
