Kochi was formerly known as Tosa (土佐).
The local specialty is katsuo no tataki, bonito quickly grilled under high heat so the surface is cooked but the inside is still raw.
Tosa Tsuru Space Sake
Tosa Tsuru recently came out with a new sake that was prepared using Yeast that has been to Space. The Yeast was sent to Space on a Russian Rocket and brought back to the Tosa Tsuru Brewery where it was used to make a Sake that is literally out of this world!
