Klamath Falls

Klamath Falls is a small city in Southern Oregon. The city itself is in the large Klamath Basin. At the northern end of the city is gorgeous Klamath Lake. The views in Klamath are spectacular, if you look to the south you can see snow covered Mt. Shasta. The outlying areas of the city are almost completely filled with acres upon acres of farm land.

By Plane

Klamath Falls is home to Kingsley Field Airport[1]. It isn't a very big commercial airport but you can easily fly to Portland, then to your destination. The major use of the airport is for military purposes. Kingsley Field Airport is also an alternate landing site for a space shuttle.

By Car

Klamath Falls is located about an hour and a half away from Interstate 5. Highway 97 Runs straight through the city.

By Train

There is an Amtrak station[2] that makes it convenient to travel anywhere on the west coast.

By Car

Klamath Falls is a smaller city, and is fairly easy to navigate. The only hard place to drive is downtown where there are a lot of older one way only streets.

By Bus

Basin Transit[3] provides regular bus service around Klamath Falls Monday through Friday 6:30am to 7:30pm, and Saturday 10am to 4:30pm.

By Foot

Klamath Falls isn't a very walking friendly city, you will do much better in a car or on a bike unless you get a ride downtown.

By Bike

There are numerous bike paths that run all over the city that can provide a full days worth of biking. There are also many mountain biking trails nearby at Moore Park, the largest park in Oregon.


Klamath County is home to Crater Lake National Park [4]. It is about 45 minutes away from the city, but well worth the drive. The Klamath Basin is rated #1 in the West on Sunset Magazine's list of Fantastic Five Birding destinations [5]. Klamath is also home to the Klamath County Museum [6] which has many artifacts and relics from pioneer days, along with many native american items.


Hunting and Fishing

  • Klamath Falls is home to beautiful Klamath Lake, which is connected to several other lakes and both the Williamson and Klamath rivers. The fishing is incredible either on a boat in the middle of the lake or on shore. There are over 10 more lakes within a 45 minute drive from Klamath as well. The areas around the city are home to an amazing amount of wildlife. You can go for a hike to enjoy the views, or hunt many different species of game during hunting seasons.


  • The Running Y Ranch and Resort [7] is one of the best golf courses in the country. Klamath is also home to three other golf courses.
