Less than 20,000 people inhabit Jardín, in the past most dedicated their lives to grow coffee, plantains, beans and sugarcane. Today many will be glad to show you their town and surroundings.

En los últimos años, sus habitantes han trabajado duro para convertir el turismo en una de las mejores fuentes de ingresos, eso sí, sin dejar a un lado la caña, el café, el fríjol o el plátano, que son los cultivos tradicionales de esta región.

Si uno quiere charcos, se va para los del corazón, en la Herrera, o si quiere historia puede ir al Morro Amarillo donde hay un cementerio indígena, o al corregimiento de Cristianía donde habita la comunidad Emberá-Chamí.

Otra opción es la de la cueva del esplendor. Para llegar allí hay que recorrer un camino de unos 10 kilómetros que va entre bosque húmedo. Hace años, paralelo a este camino había una carretera que llevaba casi hasta la entrada a la cueva, pero con el tiempo ésta se fue destruyendo y ya no queda sino algo parecido a un camino de herradura.
