  • The Senegambian stone circles - it is thought they were erected about the 8th century, to mark grave sites. There are about 1,000 circles. They lie 22km northwest of Lamin Koto, on the north bank just across from Janjanbureh. There are also some across the border in Senegal. They were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2006.
