Population of Jaisinghpur Town is 1,273 and overall population of Jaisinghpur tehsil is 58,623. It was named after the name of Katoch king of Princely ordered state Kangra-Lambagraon, Maharaja Jai Singh. It is situated on the bank of river Beas. It is known for its "chaugan." There are several notable temples in the town and a mosque midtown, popularly known as Baba Shah Mast Ali Dargah. Sheetla Mata temple is famous temple of the town on Tinbar-Palampur road.
Newly upgraded Gaggal Airport (IATA: DHM) in Kangra, 10 km away, has flights from Delhi on Air Deccan (daily via Pathankot) and Jagson Airlines  (three times weekly via Kullu). Flights are prone to cancellation due to bad weather or because enough passengers didn't show up, so leave some leeway for onward connections on the way out.
Most people come to Jaisinghpur by bus. It has good connections with other parts of North India, although the journeys are often slow due to the narrow winding roads in the hills. HRTC buses from Hamirpur cost Rs.47 and take 1.5/2 hours to Jaisinghpur and from Chadhiyar Rs.25 and takes 1 hour. Many private bus companies are available for travel from Shimla, Hamirpur and Palampur.
