Holyhead [1] is a small port town in north-west Wales, with high-speed ferries to the Dublin area.

By rail[edit]

Holyhead is the end of the rail lines through northern Wales.

By boat[edit]

  • Irish Ferries [2] sail from Dublin.
  • Stena Line [3] sails from Dún Laoghaire (Co. Dublin) (about 8 km south of Dublin city centre).

The 'centre' of Holyhead is quite small and easily walkable. Everything is about 5-10min from the bridge which connects Holyhead's main streets to the ferry terminal.

  • Roman Fort/St Cybi Church. The ruins of an old Roman Fort are a 5min walk from the ferry/train station in Holyhead. On top of these ruins is built St Cybi Church. From there you also have a view of the harbour. free.  edit
