Frear Park is in Troy, New York . Understand Frear Park is a 247-acre 18-hole public golf course, hockey arena, and outdoor playgrounds. Golf Leagues and Tournaments - Twenty-five established leagues currently play at Frear Park including 18 men's, three seniors, and four ladies. Over 80 tournaments and golf outings will be held at Frear Park throughout the season. Resident ID and Season Passes – Starts late March, every Monday thru Saturday 10 am to 3 pm. After May 15th hours reduced to Wednesday and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm. Reserve Tee Times Reserved tee times will be available on Saturday, Sundays, and holidays until 2:00 p.m. Reservations on a first call, first served basis. Tee times taken on Thursday from 10 am to 11am. by calling 235-8993. Reservations for threesomes and foursomes only will be taken. HOLIDAY reservations will be taken the day before by calling 235-8993. History It began as a 9-hole course in 1931 and later was expanded to 18 holes in 1964. Currently the course provides over 46,000 rounds of golf annually. Along with the public golf course, Frear Park also boasts a hockey rink which is used by Troy Albany Youth Hockey Association (TAYHA) and also offers public skating. The rink opened in 1974 and was the first enclosed ice rink in the area. In 1979, improvements were made by adding a lobby and extra locker rooms amongst other things. Players ranging from age 6-18 and of all skill levels are able to compete through TAYHA and Frear Park. Frear Park Conservancy The Frear Park Conservancy is dedicated to improving Frear Park and Preserving it's historic integrity. Through collaborative efforts with park users, the surrounding community and the City of Troy, The Conservancy strives to revive and maintain the park's history,beauty, and recreational value.
