The False Bay is located to the east of the Cape Peninsula near Cape Town, South Africa.
It is called False Bay, because in earlier times ships would go to False Bay, instead the Bay of Cape Town Harbour, ending up in the wrong bay.

- The water is around 5°C warmer then the water at the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape Peninsula and the locals love to go swimming in Strand and Gordon's Bay during the warm summer month of December and January. If you are staying near the Peninsula, you can also go to the beaches at Muizenberg or Simonstown and enjoy a day at the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.
- The Southern Right Whale can often be seen in the False Bay, especially during the whale season. A good spot to see whales is at Cape Point, the most southern tip of the Cape Peninsula.
