Erimo is in Hokkaido's Central Circuit.

The Erimo Express bus departs from Sapporo Station at 4:30pm every day. During winter, there is an additional bus that runs in the morning. Visitors may also reach Erimo by taking a bus/train to Samani, a nearby town, and taking a bus from there bound for Hiroo.

Get around[edit]

Public Transportation is scarce within Erimo. For those with cars, Erimo can be found along the 336 and 34 motorways, with Cape Erimo being along the 34.

  • Cape Erimo is the main attraction for most visitors especially for hatsuhinode, the first sunrise of the New Year. A famous Enka song called Erimo-misaki by Shinichi Mori was written about this location. At this location there is also a museum dedicated to the strong winds felt year-round in Erimo.
  • Shoya Sakura Park is located on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The park has several variations of cherry blossoms numbering approximately 1,500 trees. In early-to-mid May these cherry blossoms bloom and provide a beautiful spot for flower viewing.
  • The Erimo Lighthouse Festival is held every August. There are many performances and events at this festival including a fireworks display.

The Open Auto Camping and Park Golf Course at Hyakuninhama is open from May to October. The camping sites include 10 bungalows, 19 auto partitions and about 100 tent lots. The camp site is very popular with both passing riders and families. The Hyakuninhama Park Golf Course is popular with the locals as well as park golf enthusiasts.

  • Tsubu (sea snail) is Erimo's claim to fame and as such can be obtained at many shops all around Erimo
  • Konbu (kelp) from the Hidaka region is famous around Japan for its quality.

Erimo is famous for both sea snail and kelp which can be found at many restaurants.

The Open Auto Camping sites in Hyakuninhama are open from May to October. There are also several Japanese-style Inns around town.
