Erice is a small city in Sicily.

The two Norman castles

Erice is situated in the north-west of Sicily, thousands of feet above Trapani. hence the temperature is considerably lower than on the coast. This can be very welcome in summer but in winter you pay for superb views, ea and fa, by being pretty cold, unless you wear considerably more than you might expect to in Sicily. Mist is frequent but tends to be short lived.

Get in

In summer there is a cable car from Trapani. In winter there is an enjoyable trip in a local bus.

Get around

Without private transport any trip will have to start with the bus to Trapani.

You can hardly go wrong. Everything here is a delight; the streets, the shops, the park and above all the two Norman castles.

  • Hotel Pineta - numerous separate buildings scattered around Reception and the restaurant. In cold weather they heat the en-suite bathrooms as well as the bedrooms. Breakfast is included in the price, which in winter can be well below that shown on the website.
