Colón is a city in the Colón region of Panama. The town is in poor condition, but it is worth driving around to look at the culture, people and architecture.

Get in

I visited Colon December 20, 2008 and was not allowed by the police to walk around. My movements were very much restricted to being forced to drive in a taxi two blocks to go shopping? I was allowed to walk Central Blvd, but only during the day and because the police had squads located on each corner.(Matilda Duffy 12 26 2008)

They always got police on the streets just do what you want to do. There everywhere on the streets only for security reasons though.

Get around

See

  • Parks and Statues, most are by the shore area. The most notable is the one you see coming into Colón on Central Ave.
  • Christ Church by the Sea

Do

Buy

Eat

Seafood soup $4,00, was a great treat with three or four different types of fish in a tasty tomatoe base. Have with rice and fried plaintans with salsa. If your not into seafood try the roasted chicken with rice or potatoes $1.65 (Matilda Duffy 12-26-2008)

Drink

Sleep

  • Wasington Hotel
  • Melia Panama Canal, Antigua Escuela de Las Americas, (507) 4701100, [1].

Stay safe

Colon is a very dangerous city. Walking around is not advisable.
