Chinchiná is known as Colombias coffee heart. It is settled in a valley surrounded by coffee plantations.
The town is home to the Buendia coffee factory and Cenicafe, a coffee research centre.
There are frequent buses going to and from Manizales. It's only 30 minutes.
- Colina del Sol is a coffee finca settled on top of a hill overlooking Chinchiná on one side and the mountains on an other. It's a half hour climb uphill. The friendly owner will show you around on his finca for a small fee if you dont stay over night. Contact him first before setting off, they will explain you all about this place, and they can pick you up in the Terminal. (Nicolas/Mathilde, Carrera 8 No.8-63, 3128234151, 3128472890, email firstname.lastname@example.org). (June 2013)
- Some of the smaller coffee factories will give you a short tour if you show interest.
- It's recommended to stay at least one night Colina del Sol (see section See). It's a nice place to get away from it all. Price per night $35 000 per person included the transport and a nice local who guides you throw the area. If you stay more than 3 nights you get a discount of 10%. (june 2013)
