Chadds Ford is a township of 3,170 people (as of 2000) on the western outskirts of Philadelphia in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Chadds Ford community was named after John Chadds, who began operating a ferry there in 1737. Historically, one of the major events that draws tourists near is the Battle of the Brandywine fought by George Washington and his troops, which was a major defeat for troops in 1777.

Chadds Ford is on US-1, between Philadelphia and Baltimore, Maryland. It's also near the intersection of US-1 and US-202, which leads south to Wilmington, Delaware.

A local restaurant that has been around for more than 16 years and is located right in the middle of the Wyeth Country (famous artists who grew up and live in Chadds Ford). Hank's was recently remodeled to create more seating for customers. Hank's is known for their good homestyle cooking and friendly service. This place is truly on of the best places to stop and eat, talk, and enjoy the day.  edit
  • Meaghan's, (Route 202 a few miles into crossing the border from Delaware to Pennsylvania, on your right by Brusters Ice Cream). Open from the crack of dawn until 2PM. There is a limited amount of seating, but service is fast and it is definitely worth the wait! Decorated in a turquoise color, friendly service, and where all the locals gather to eat and talk.  edit

The style of food ranges from spicy, sweet,mild, saucy and the portions are considered "family sized" portions, meaning they are big enough to share with the table.   • Ruby's Diner 919 Baltimore Pike (Rt.1) in the Brinton Lake Shopping Center - (610)358-1983. Ruby's Diner is unlike any other restaurant. This family restaurant is designed to look like an old fashioned Diner in the 1940's. It is equipped with a real motorcycle as decoration, sparkled ruby red seats (booth or table) as well as two trains circling overhead on a train track. They also have the most delicious milkshakes and burgers you will ever taste! This restaurant is perfect to take your family to. They serve Breakfast until 11, lunch and dinner!

  • Bobby Chez Cafe New restaurant located at 100 Evergreen Dr (The Shops at Brinton Lake) - 302-610-358-5020. This small restaurant offers take-out as well as dining in. They are known for their seafood,but mostly their crab cakes. It is not too expensive, unless you order alcohol, then the bill will rack up pretty quickly, but the food is worth the money!
