Chadds Ford is a township of 3,170 people (as of 2000) on the western outskirts of Philadelphia in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
The Chadds Ford community was named after John Chadds, who began operating a ferry there in 1737. Historically, one of the major events that draws tourists near is the Battle of the Brandywine fought by George Washington and his troops, which was a major defeat for troops in 1777.
Brandywine Battlefield Box 202 (610-459-3342). The, fought September 11, 1777, was one of the bloodiest in the region. The park includes George Washington's rebuilt headquarters and Marquis de Lafayette's headquarters.

The Brandywine River Museum US Rt. 1 , Chadds Ford - After looking at all of the local and famous art work mostly by the Wyeth family, you can visit the Gift Shop.
