The Catskills of New York are a "dissected plateau", a highland worn into mountains and valleys by erosion. Largely rural and wild, the Catskills are a popular vacation destination for New Yorkers, but they also have much to offer the traveler from out of state. The Catskills are adjacent to the Poconos region of Pennsylvania.

Go fly fishing - this region is home to numerous rivers hallowed by fly fisherman including the Beaverkill, Neversink, the Delaware, the Esopus, and the Willowemoc.

  • Kadampa Meditation Center, Sweeney Rd, Glen Spey, +1 (845) 856 9000 located in Glen Spey, NY in the Tri-State Area is a wonderful place to go to get away from the busyness, relax and enjoy some inner peace. The KMC offers regular Peace of Mind Meditation Retreats [1] in addition to other courses and retreats [2]. Everyone is welcome.
  • Hunter Mountain Ski Area is beautiful in the winter. It is the oldest ski resort area in the Catskills. In the summer and fall there are fun festivals and fairs.


During summer, there are many kosher restaurants open. They are usually overpriced thou. During the year, there are plenty of restaurants selling basic food items, such as pizza, burgers, and fries.


Stay safe

Because New York City dumps all of it's crazies into Catskills it is recommended that you stay inside during the night, During the Summer many people go into the Catskills from the City. They are reckless drivers, so be careful when driving. In the winter the rodes have ice and it gets very slippery.
