Other destinationsUnderstandOne of the least developed regions of the country, the mountain areas suffer from poor infrastructure and remain heavily mined. The coastal areas around Sihanoukville are being actively developed for tourism but as yet remain largely unspoilt and still offer peaceful beaches. Get inThe nothwest of this region, centred on Battambang, can be reached via National Highway 5, which runs from Poipet, via Battambang to Phnom Penh. It is also accessible from Chantaburi in Thailand via the Phsar Prom/Ban Pakard border crossing on National Highway 57, which runs via Pailin. The coastal region-Sihanoukville, Kampot and Kep-is most easily reached from Phnom Penh. Koh Kong at the south of the mountain region is connected to Trat in Thailand and to Sihanoukville. Reaching the northern mountain region from Koh Kong is possible but represents more of an adventure than a transport connection. Get aroundSeeDoEatDrinkStay safeGet out
