Caltagirone

Caltagirone is a town in central Sicily, Italy, most famous for it's ceramics and long ceramic-decorated staircase. Get around The adjacent train & bus stations are in the new town about 20 minutes walk from the centre of the old town. Some buses may also stop in the old town. See La Scala - the famous 142 step staircase up to Santa Maria church, with each stair riser decorated with different ceramic tiles. Good views from the top.
