The Burgess Hill Train Station has a regular service on the London to Brighton line. This line also sometimes stops at Gatwick airport. There is also a bus service from Haywards Heath, Cuckfield, Brighton and other local towns and villages.
Walking or possibly cycling is the best way to get around in this small town. Cycling may cause a problem however; Burgess Hill - as the name suggests - is rather hilly. There are also good local bus routes and taxis available.
St Johns Park in the middle of the town, and Batchelors Farm, Bedelands Farm and Ditchling Common Nature Reserves on the southern, northern and eastern outskirts of Burgess Hill respectively.
Go walking round Burgess Hill. It has many parks and nature reserves on the outskirts and is surrounding by the beautiful Sussex scenery in all directions.
There are two major shopping centres in Burgess Hill; The Martlets and the Market Place. Burgess Hill has some chain stores, such as WHSmiths, and many individual shops selling
In the centre of the town are plently of cafes and coffee houses, including Mooch@76, shown on the Channel 4 TV programme, Risking It All, and also a Costa Coffee.For takeways, Burgess has McDonalds, Uncle Sams, and KFC Outlets. There is also a selection of pizza takeaways, and a couple of Italian restaurants as well as Fish and Chip shops and Chinese and Indian restaurants. There is also a Somerfield, a Lidl, an Iceland and a Waitrose supermarket in the town center and a large Tesco superstore on the southern outskirts of Burgess Hill.
There are a number of pubs and bars in burgess, The Railway and Jacobs Post in the town center being the two very popular places, especially with the younger crowd.
The Railway pub is also a hotel. There is also Daisy Lodge B&B, and other accomodation dotted about the town.
Brighton is a major sea-side city and very easily accessable from the town, by train, or by car via the A23.
London; there are direct frequent trains to both London Bridge and London Victoria stations.
Crawley is a major town and shopping area which is not too far away.
Horsham is a pictoresque historic town to the west.
Lewes is also an attractive town, a short drive to the east.
