Breda is a city in the Dutch province of North Brabant.

Get in[edit]

By car[edit]

From Amsterdam, Breda can be reached by taking the A2 to Utrecht and then the A27. Breda is less than a 90 minute drive from the three main ferry ports in Holland. The closest port to Breda is Europoort in Rotterdam which is 45 miles away. [1] From Rotterdam, Breda can be reached by taking the A16 to Breda, which will take about 30 to 40 minutes.

By train[edit]

From Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport, Breda can be reached by train in about 1 hour on Fyra, a train service that runs on the high speed tracks between Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Breda. Tickets can be bought at the ticket machines, or can be reserved at the NS hispeed website [2]. Alternatively, if you already have your normal NS ticket, day ticket or anything of the sorts, you can travel with Fyra by buying a supplement at the ticket machines.

Get around[edit]

You can get around by bike (rent from Central Station) or Citybus. But almost everything in the city centre is walkable. You can grab a cab at the Breda Central Station, most cabs will cost you around 10 euros. (depending on the driver.) There are some questionable characters around there. If you want to be safe, call Peutax +31(0)76-5710000 and make a pre-arranged price. Other companies are Taxi-Line (reckognized by their "Yellow Cab" style), City-Cab and TCM (Taxi Centrale Made). You could also take a "Train-Taxi". By buying a ticket, you can be driven aorund thentire Breda municipality. However, this is only to one address, and all occupants must have a valid ticket. These can be bought from the NS vending machine. From the central trainstation, it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the city centre. Just go through the Willemstraat, cross the bridge over the moat and you are almost there!
